Cross Connect — Church Network

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 12, 2026

1. Introduction

Cross Connect — Church Network ("Cross Connect," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Ojee Labs. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Cross Connect mobile application and any related services.

By creating an account or using Cross Connect, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • First, middle (optional), and last name
  • Email address, which is also your sign-in
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • The congregation you choose, and your requests to join a congregation
  • Prayer requests you submit, and the "I Prayed" records you add to other members' requests
  • Your reactions to congregation announcements, and the skin tone you choose for the 🙏 reaction
  • Announcements, bulletins, fellowship events, and images you post (Admins and Leaders)
  • Business listings you submit, and reports you make about business listings
  • Your notification preferences
  • Your Fellowship Reach radius
  • Anything you send us when you contact support or request account deletion

Information collected automatically:

  • A push notification token (Expo push token) for each device you sign in on, used to deliver notifications
  • App usage data collected through PostHog analytics: screen views and key in-app actions (see "Analytics" below)
  • General device information (device type, operating system) collected as part of analytics

Information assigned by your congregation or the platform:

  • Congregation membership, which begins when a congregation Admin or Leader approves your join request
  • Your role within your congregation (member, leader, or admin), set by your congregation's Admins and Leaders
  • Fellowship affiliation, which comes from your congregation; congregations are assigned to a fellowship by the Cross Connect platform administrator
  • Your home congregation's location (its map coordinates), stored with your account so the app can apply your Fellowship Reach radius

Location information:

With your permission, the app uses your device's location while you are using it, only to centre the congregation directory map near you. Your device location is not stored on our servers. Fellowship Reach is measured from your home congregation's location, not from where your device is.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Connect you with your congregation and fellowship network
  • Show you fellowship announcements and events within your Fellowship Reach radius
  • Deliver push notifications for announcements, bulletins, prayer requests, the Verse of the Day, join requests, and fellowship announcements and events within your Fellowship Reach, according to your notification preferences
  • Display your profile to other members as described in Section 4
  • Enable congregation Admins and Leaders to manage membership and content
  • Understand how the app is used and improve it, through usage analytics
  • Respond to your support and deletion requests
  • Send account-related emails, including email verification and password reset
  • Send congregation Admins and Leaders service updates and fundraising appeals for Cross Connect by email, as described below

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for advertising purposes. We do not share your information with advertisers.

Admin and Leader mailing list:

When you become a congregation Admin or Leader, we add your name and email address to a Cross Connect mailing list, run as a Google Group. We use it to send service updates about Cross Connect and occasional fundraising and support appeals for Cross Connect. You can leave the list at any time with the unsubscribe link in any of its emails, or by emailing support@ccchurchnet.com; once you leave, we won't add you back automatically. We remove you from the list when you are no longer an Admin or Leader or when you delete your account.

Analytics:

We use PostHog to see which screens and features are used. Usage events are linked to a random account identifier (your Firebase user ID), not to your name or email address. We do not send your name, email address, or prayer request text with analytics events. Some events include details such as a congregation's ID and name, a fellowship ID, a business listing's category, a live stream link you tapped, or the Fellowship Reach distance you chose.

4. How We Share Your Information

Within your congregation:

Members of your congregation can see you in the congregation's member directory and open your profile: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), profile photo, and role. Your name and photo also appear on the prayer requests you share, and announcements show the name of the Admin or Leader who posted them. Members who can see an announcement can see who reacted to it, and the author of a prayer request is told when you tap "I Prayed."

Your congregation's Admins and Leaders also see your join request (your name, email address, and the request date) and can change your role or remove you from the congregation. A congregation Admin can delete the account of a member of their own congregation.

Within your fellowship network:

If your congregation belongs to a fellowship, members of the other congregations in that fellowship can also view your profile, including your name, email address, phone number (if provided), profile photo, role, and congregation. Fellowship announcements show the name and congregation of the Admin or Leader who posted them, and fellowship events show the posting congregation.

Profile photos:

Profile photos can be viewed by any signed-in user of the app.

The congregation directory:

Any signed-in user can browse the directory of active congregations and view each congregation's public profile, including its address, service times, contact and social links, and its three most recent bulletins.

Business listings:

If you submit a business listing, its business name, category, description, and contact information, together with your name and congregation, are visible to members of every congregation in your fellowship and to Cross Connect platform administrators.

Prayer requests:

Prayer requests marked "All Members" are visible to all members of your congregation. Prayer requests marked "Leaders Only" are visible only to your congregation's Admins and Leaders and to you, the author.

Platform administrators:

Cross Connect platform administrators at Ojee Labs can access accounts and content where needed to run the platform, help with support requests, review reports, and remove content or accounts.

Service providers and outside services:

We use the following third-party services to operate Cross Connect:

  • Firebase (Google Cloud) — sign-in, database, file storage, server functions, remote app configuration, and account emails
  • Expo — push notification delivery
  • PostHog — product analytics, as described above
  • Apple Maps and Google Maps — maps in the app (Apple Maps on iPhone and iPad, Google Maps on Android), and directions links that open in Apple Maps or Google Maps
  • Google Places — address suggestions when Admins enter a church address
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim — turning church addresses into map coordinates
  • YouTube — our servers check congregations' YouTube links through the YouTube Data API to show when a stream is live; YouTube and Vimeo video previews in announcements load from those services
  • Google Docs viewer — on Android, bulletin PDFs are displayed through Google's document viewer
  • Google Groups — the Admin and Leader mailing list
  • Buy Me a Coffee — voluntary donations made through our website

When an announcement contains a link, the app loads that web page from your device to show a preview, so the linked website receives a request from your device.

Each service provider processes data only as necessary to provide their services and is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Legal requirements:

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or in response to valid legal process. We will notify you of such requests where legally permitted to do so.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active.

When your account is deleted, we permanently delete your sign-in account; your profile (name, email address, phone number, and photo); your prayer requests; your "I Prayed" entries on other members' requests; your announcement reactions; your business listings; your notifications; your requests to join a congregation; and your congregation membership and role, including any Admin or Leader role; and your place on the Admin and Leader mailing list. Announcements, bulletins, and fellowship events you posted for your congregation stay, because they belong to the congregation; a congregation Admin or Leader can remove them.

Usage data may be retained by our analytics provider after your account is deleted, in a form that is not linked to your name or email address. You can ask us to remove it by emailing support@ccchurchnet.com.

If you request deletion through our website form, we keep a log of the request (your name, email address, congregation, any details you gave, and your IP address) for 90 days, and then delete it.

If a congregation is deactivated from the platform, member data associated with that congregation is retained until individual members delete their accounts or the data is removed by the platform administrator.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

Access and update: You may view and update your name, phone number, and profile photo at any time from your Profile tab. Your email address is your sign-in and can't be changed in the app; to change it, contact us at support@ccchurchnet.com.

Delete your account: You may permanently delete your account at any time: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete Account, and confirm. This action is immediate and irreversible. Section 5 lists what is deleted and what stays. (Demo accounts used for app review can't be deleted.)

Request deletion without app access: If you no longer have access to the app, submit a request at ccchurchnet.com/delete-account. On Android, the Request Data Deletion button on your Profile tab opens the same page. Before deleting anything, we will email the address on the account to confirm the request. We will process your request within 30 days.

Push notifications: You may turn off push notifications for Cross Connect at any time in your device's system settings, or choose which kinds you receive under Notification Preferences on your Profile tab.

Mailing list: If you are an Admin or Leader, you can leave the Admin and Leader mailing list at any time with the unsubscribe link in its emails or by emailing support@ccchurchnet.com.

Fellowship Reach: You choose how far Fellowship Reach extends from your home congregation, from your Profile tab.

Prayer request privacy: When submitting a prayer request, you choose whether it is visible to all congregation members ("All Members") or only to your congregation's Admins and Leaders ("Leaders Only").

Device permissions: The app asks for these permissions, and you can turn each one off in your device's settings:

  • Contacts — used only when you tap Add to Contacts on a member's profile, to save their details to your device. Your contacts are not uploaded.
  • Photo library — to choose a profile photo or an image to post.
  • Location (while using the app) — to centre the directory map near you. It is not stored.
  • Push notifications — to send the notifications you choose.

7. Children's Privacy

Cross Connect is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe that a minor has created an account, please contact us at support@ccchurchnet.com and we will take appropriate action to remove the account and associated data.

Cross Connect does not knowingly permit minors to use the platform. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and remove associated data immediately.

To report inappropriate content or a child safety concern, email us at support@ccchurchnet.com. Business listings can also be reported in the app with "Report Listing." All reports are reviewed by the platform administrator. Where required by law, we will report violations to the appropriate regional and national authorities.

If you become aware of any content on Cross Connect that may constitute child sexual abuse material (CSAM), please contact us immediately at support@ccchurchnet.com and report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) at www.missingkids.org.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Firebase Authentication for secure account access
  • Firestore Security Rules that enforce congregation and fellowship-scoped data access — members can only access data they are authorized to see
  • Data sent to and from our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
  • Firebase Storage security rules for uploaded media

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The app contains links to external services including your congregation's website, giving links, live stream, Zoom meeting, calendar, and social media accounts. These services are operated by third parties and are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update this page and its effective date, and we will email you about significant changes. Your continued use of Cross Connect after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
